Constructed over 2 levels of a heritage Woolstore, BCM were looking for a fresh take on their existing offices to meeting the needs of their dynamic, creative, and integrated teams. ‘The Crucible’ is a creative space built by Quadric featuring frameless glass, timber portals, and charcoal tones. Meeting rooms were configured to allow for a new staircase interconnecting the two levels off the void of a 4 storey building atrium, thereby maximising team’s proximity fostering and open and interactive floor configuration. The lower level was transformed from a standard office, into one which celebrates the character of the existing Woolstore structure. Below the exposed floor joists and heritage steelwork, the kitchen and breakout space incorporates a large sleek opening with reconstituted stone benches and banquet seating providing a focal point for staff to meet and eat. The addition of bold splashes of colour throughout, were mirrored across key objects from other floors and provided a further visual link between the levels. The management of a stage delivery with an existing office space, incorporating many comprehensive and intricate details, proved a testament to all the project participants’ ability to work together for a shared vision.
