Queensland Police HQ

The G20 Summit held in Brisbane in 2014, was the largest ever peacetime police operation in Australia, involving a complex security operation to ensure protection of world leaders, 4000 delegates and 2500 media representatives.   In preparation for the event, Quadric was appointed as Principal Contractor to refurbish the Queensland Police Headquarters Police Operations Centre and Joint Intelligence Group facility.  The new spaces acted as control centres providing a central point of co-ordination for resources and information supporting approximately 6,000 police in the operation.

Delivery of the project involved a deep commitment to fixed deadlines, a sensitive understanding of various secure information, a willingness to work around the needs of the operating police station, and an applied comprehension of communications services.  It was identified in early phases that the largest project risk was the integration of services from several different information systems into the built environment.  This became both the largest obstacle and the biggest key to the project success.  When client requested changes to IT integration were presented, the project team was able to collaborate with consultants and provide buildability advice which allowed deadlines to be achieved.

Quadric would like to thank the entire project control group for their efforts and patience, through what was an understandably challenging, but ultimately rewarding project.

Downer Defence Fusion & Security Centre

Quadric was engaged on a Construction Management basis to complete a secure fitout for the Downer Defence and National Security business unit based in Brisbane and Canberra. The 2600m2 facility includes multiple physical security zones, including three different network connections in various locations. To meet the physical security requirements, the perimeter walls and roof structure required alterations as well as the construction of internal partitions and doors. Aside from the physical security requirements, the fitout has a number of contemporary design elements to provide a collaborative working environment. Quadric worked closely with Downer during the design phase to value engineer the scope without compromising the quality of the completed facilities. The works were completed on time to a high standard.

Qantas Club Lounge

Quadric successfully constructed this staged refurbishment located ‘airside’ at the domestic terminal. This involved complex project priorities including the ongoing operation in a heavy customer traffic area and managing safety and security risks. Meeting rooms and internet benches were blended with honed bluestone and the backlit stone reception added class. Concealed structural steel, timber ceilings and 2-pac panels were installed as features throughout. We also installed an extensive stone and stainless buffet including a food preparation area. New toilets were created with high quality tile, plumbing and joinery finishes. The Quadric team worked restricted hours to allow for customer use of the area. The finished result demonstrated Qantas’ professionalism and hospitality with a comfortable and homely feel.

Singapore Airlines VIP Lounge

Many features were incorporated into the design for this project, and Quadric was heavily involved throughout the refurbishment.
The private lounge for Singapore Airlines’ invited guests had internet, commercial kitchen & buffet and bathrooms installed. The VIP Lounge for their exclusive passengers was transformed from a bare shell. This room was finished with dark veneer and reconstituted stone along with Lumicor dividing panels. New flush plaster ceilings with coffers and custom made carpet added to the overall look. This was finished off with feature lighting, creating an ambiance expected of a VIP lounge. Bathrooms were completed with high end finishes and fully accessible toilets. With the work being located past screening within the airport, we successfully managed to meet security requirements to keep all parties satisfied.
